QUESTION :
What is the connection between The Hash House and the
sport of Hashing?
ANSWER : The Hash House
Harriers was founded in The Hash House in
Kuala Lumpur,
in 1938, by its residents. Whereas The Hash House was
demolished in the 60’s, the sport of Hashing has grown
into a global phenomena. With the passage of time, The
Hash House has become the spiritual home of the Hash.

QUESTION :
Who can be the Member of The Hash House being rebuilt?
ANSWER : Since
The Hash House is the Home of the Hash and is for the
benefit of the Hash fraternity worldwide, membership of
The Hash House is open to all past and present members
of hash chapters worldwide.

QUESTION :
What categories of membership are available?
ANSWER : Two categories of
individual membership are offered, an “Ordinary”
membership and a “Patron Life” membership.

QUESTION What rates apply for
“Ordinary” membership?
ANSWER : The
Ordinary member’s entrance fee shall be USD110.00 (
excluding bank charges or RM350.00 ( for Malaysian
residents only).No further subscription or charges will
be levied on Members until The Hash House is
commissioned and fully operational.

What is “Patron Life” membership of
The Hash House?
ANSWER : A Patron Life
member receives life membership of The Hash House. This
category of membership is available for those who like
to contribute more to the rebuilding of The Hash House
project. Four categories of Patron Life Member are
available in recognition of the four key founders. The
categories are :
a)
Torch Bennet Patron- donation of
USD2,000.00 and above
b)
Horse Thomson Patron-
donation of USD5,000.00 and above
c)
Cecil Lee Patron- donation of
USD10,000.00 and above
d)
‘G’ Gispert Patron – donation of
USD20,000.00 and above

QUESTION :
What benefits do I get by becoming a Patron Life member
?
ANSWER : Patron
Life Members will get special recognition for
their donation for The Hash House
through receiving life membership of The Hash House and
having their names prominently displayed in perpetuity
on one of the four roles of honor within the Hash House
together with a package of recognition suitable for the
respective chosen category.

QUESTION : How
can a chapter contribute to the re-building of The Hash
House ?
ANSWER : Membership
to The Hash house is open to all Chapters anywhere in the
world. Participating chapters are expected to organize/hold
fund raising events in the name of The Hash House and
thereafter to donate the proceeds to The Hash House Building
Fund. Such chapters shall be known as Hash House Partners.
All Hash House Partners will be recognized in the Hall of
Fame. In addition novelty rewards will be accorded to (a)
the 3 most successful fund raising chapters and (b) the 3
chapters with the most unique fund raising methods.

QUESTION : What
facilities will The Hash House have?
ANSWER : The Hash House
will offer, inter-alia, a Hash
Museum with secure archive for safe
depository of hash heritage materials and Exhibition Hall
for display of hash genealogy and topical display, a Hash
Fraternity Centre with F&B facilities, Meeting Rooms,
Library, Hash
Memorial Room
etc.

QUESTION : What
is the estimated cost of construction of The Hash House and
when will it be completed ?
ANSWER : The
approximate cost to re-build The Hash House is USD3 million
and the construction shall be undertaken in two phases. The
Ground Breaking Ceremony at the site is tentatively
scheduled for the latter part of 2008, whilst the
construction of The Hash House in 2009, always subject to
availability of funds.

QUESTION : How are the funds of
The Hash House accounted for ?
ANSWER : A
separate bank account has been opened with the HSBC Bank
Malaysia Berhad (‘HSBC’ Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), to manage
and account for all receipts and payments pertaining to fund
raising, membership to The Hash House and development
expenses.

QUESTION : Is The Hash House a
legal entity?
ANSWER : The
Hash House is wholly owned and managed by Yayasan Hash
Heritage – 519853-D (Hash House Foundation). The Foundation
was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee, having
no shareholders and with strict requirements with respect to
annual auditing and reporting.

QUESTION : How is the Foundation
managed?
ANSWER : The
Foundation is managed by a Board of Trustees,
comprising 8 persons. The composition of the Board and
Trustees to the Foundation has been such to reflect an
international representation.

QUESTION : What are the objectives
of the Foundation?
ANSWER : the
objectives of the Foundation are as follows:
a)
to rebuild The Hash House for use as a
recreational centre for the interest of the people and
hashers both locally and worldwide and maintaining and
preserving The Hash House so rebuild,
b)
to advance, promote and implement the
heritage aspects of the sport of Hashing for the interest of
the people both locally and worldwide and
c)
to establish, maintain, manage and improve
an archive and library of articles, documents, materials,
publications and records concerning the history and the
development of the sport of Hashing and by ensuring the
preservation of the same.
