THE HASH HERITAGE FOUNDATION

“MISSION & ROLE”

Hashing as a participative sport was started in 1938 and is alive and well as shown by the continued growth in the number of new Hash chapters being formed throughout the world.
The Hash Heritage Foundation was proposed in 1998 and incorporated in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in the year 2000. It is registered under the Malaysian Companies Act 1965 as a not-for-profit organization, limited by guarantee and having no shareholders, with strict requirements in respect of annual auditing and reporting.
The Foundation is not a sporting club or a society. It is not a hashing club (chapter) nor in any sense a supervisor or controller of the Hash.
The Foundation consists of about 100 volunteers, derived from the membership of The Hash House, who offer their time and talents to serve the Hash Family of clubs worldwide, the Fraternity of Hashers and the general public, who are the source of future hashers.
The Hash Heritage Foundation has as its immediate objectives:
1)    To rebuild The Hash House, the original home of the Hash, to be managed by a Management Committee, to serve as a global club, for the benefit of all hashers, active or retired, local and international, incorporating facilities and features to satisfy the changing needs of the Hash Fraternity.

2)    To provide in the Hash House a Hash Fraternity Centre for the exclusive use of all hashers, to meet, socialize, interact or simply relax. Facilities will include food and beverage outlets, reading room, games room, a wall of fame (news of notable Hash personalities) and other similar amenities.
3)    To provide in the Hash House an On-On Pavilion on the ground floor, adjacent to good running territory and complete with appropriate pre and post run facilities to accommodate any Hash runs and celebrations. The On-On Pavilion may be utilized by any local or overseas Hash chapter and for the latter, twinning arrangement with local chapter is encouraged.
4)    To enhance knowledge and understanding among hashers and the general public of the Hash and its history through the establishment of a Hash Archive and Museum to collect, store and display relevant documents, records, publications, articles, materials and memorabilia, which shed light on the origin, history and development of the Hash and the sport of hashing.
5)    To trace the history, growth and development of the Hash organization worldwide through continuing Genealogical Research and publication.
6)    To provide information on the activities of the Foundation and communication with         the Foundation through upgrading and enhancing of the Hash Heritage Foundation Website at http://www.thehashhouse.org.

The Hash Heritage Foundation, through the Hash House Management Committee, seeks to provide a service to all hashers, active or retired. This will be achieved by enhancing and enriching the sport of hashing and deepening understanding and appreciation of its many attributes by hashers and non-hashers alike. The Foundation will remain the guardian of the Hash heritage.
